Compliance

Compliance to internal policies is best practice and mandatory. Tools exist to verify that a configuration is compliant with a policy. However, our software builds by default a compliant configuration. The user creates a policy. A policy is a set of configuration requirements that are stored in one location. The policy is applied to the devices and is automatically applied.
A policy is more than a template. A policy can accept a range of allowed values for different properties.

A lot of features are configured identically across devices (DNS, NTP, SNMP for example). If these features are included in the policy and the policy is applied to a device, the properties will be automatically configured. If the value of a property is changed in the policy, all devices where the policy is applied are automatically updated.

This screencast shows the benefit of using policies.
